Queens sports editor Ken Ryan, who writes The Next Level department feature each month for Ultimate Athlete, has written about high school sports for more than 10 years, at daily newspapers in Arizona and Virginia, as well as for Newsday's Hi-Five. He played baseball and ice hockey at Mineola High School and is now a resident of Garden City. He and his wife Laura have a 12-year-old daughter, Kimberly, who is actively involved in AAU basketball, travel lacrosse and field hockey.

NJ Comanzo is the Executive Editor of Long Island’s Ultimate Athlete. He oversees all operations and assisted in the formation of LIUA as a high school sports media. He initially served as Senior Sports Editor.

NJ graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2000 and received his Master's degree from SUNY Stony Brook in 2004. In addition to LIUA, he is a 6th grade English/Science teacher, loves writing, and is an avid sports fan. NJ is currently a JV head coach for both football and lacrosse in Suffolk County and resides in Saint James, NY.

James Fitzpatrick Jr. is the Senior Sports Editor at Ultimate Athlete Magazine. He oversees daily operations of both the magazine and ultimateathletemagazine.com while contributing to both venues as a staff writer. Before joining UA, James worked for Newsday’s high school sports section, after completing two internships on Newsday’s Long Island Desk. He has also done freelance work for several weekly newspapers and publications on Long Island, as well as Inside Lacrosse Magazine.

James went to East Islip High School, where he was a two-sport varsity athlete and also wrote for the high school newspaper. He graduated from Stony Brook University with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in print journalism. While at SBU, James was a member of the Division 1-AA football team, and was also the assistant sports editor of the Stony Brook Statesman. He also contributed as the main beat writer for the men’s Division I lacrosse team.
